About Casey

Welcome! I’m a registered and licensed dietitian (RDN, LD) with a Master’s in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition. I currently work as a dietitian and breastfeeding peer counselor coordinator for a state government. This blog combines two of my biggest loves: travel and food, hence Dietitian’s Destinations. There are so many aspects of traveling I love including the new cultures and music, seeing incredible architecture and accomplishments of past humans, and all the incredible experiences of nature. But my favorite experience of traveling is trying new food!

Travel Experiences

The love of traveling was instilled in me at a young age, as we were fortunate to go on family vacations growing up. We did a lot of road trips, and I distinctly remember my first flight when I was 7 when we flew to Washington DC for a trip to the US Northeast. We traveled out of the country for the first time when I was in middle school to Mexico. A few trips later and I got to visit China with a group from my high school completely for free. In undergrad I studied abroad in Spain and backpacked around Europe and to Morocco.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics

Then I was paid to go to the 2016 Rio Olympics as I was a nanny for the family of an athlete. I lived in Boston for a few years during grad school and loved how in just a few short hours you could be in a different state. I realize how lucky I am for every travel opportunity I’ve had, and am incredibly grateful. During the pandemic I didn’t travel, and barely left the house in the first year of lockdown. We did a couple of roadtrips to National Parks, and now I’m finally starting to travel again for business and pleasure.
