Boston Day Trip: Winthrop Deer Island

After visiting Saugus Iron Works in the morning, we made our way over to Winthrop and stopped at Deer Island. Winthrop is a town in Massachusetts located next to East Boston, near the airport. Our first stop in Winthrop, and the one which took up the majority of our time in the town, was to Deer Island. Deer Island houses the Deer Island Treatment Plant, although it also provides a great walking path along the water, and also includes a lighthouse look out point with multiple lighthouses to find. It was very refreshing to get out of Boston, even though we weren’t far from the city at all. We were able to watch planes fly in to land and had a great view of the city skyline. After our nice hike we stopped at the Italian restaurant Antique Table for a late lunch.
